2010-08-25 The perfect debut album This fun, experimental album is a must have! Its' blend of musical styles and genres offers something for everyone... and anyone wishing to explore Gorillaz' music should definitely start here!
2010-06-27 Just...Incredible... For starters, I have to say, even though Demon Days and Plastic Beach were amazing, Gorillaz, the world's most successful virtual band's debut, was their best. With it's silly and interesting story, great instruments, completely original directions, and thought demanding, not just provoking, lyrics, it takes the listener by surprise, even if said listener has already heard all their other stuff. Plus, the enhanced CD version, which I have, has just fun and hilarious bonuses. This band is one of the three rap artists I honestly like. The other two are Eminem and Snoop Dog, just in case you care. I'm more of a metal person.
Anyway, to wrap up, if you are considering buying this masterpiece, I must honestly say, GO FOR IT! You will love it, or I will give you a million dollars!
2010-04-26 Eat Your Hearts Out Hanna Barbera The cut-and-paste album Gorillaz is very fun from start to finish. Gorillaz is like other prefabricated pop such as Britney Spears or Destiny's Child except these caricatures are actually good. It is far superior to anything singer 2D's band Blur has released in the last five years.
Despite the lyrics being somewhat depressing at times ("I Ain't Happy...", "Can't stand your loneliness") the music is very upbeat and annoying (in a good way). The song 19-2000 will drive you absolutely bonkers (much as Song 2 from Blur's 1997 album did). Other exceptional ditties include Re-Hash, Tomorrow Comes Today, and the dub-reggae of bonus track Dracula.
The cartoon characters might be two-dimensional, but the music is 3D. Think: Beck meets Dr. Dre meets Augustus Pablo.
Actually, don't think just buy it.

2010-04-10 I just love it...catchy and interesting!!! This hasn't been off my cd player in the last month. Not a big Blur fan, though I like Beetlebum.I'm not a big rap fan either. I just love alot of these songs. Interesting, catchy...The minute I get tired of one song, another one takes it's place. Have not been into an album this much in years. It feels good to be really enjoying music that came out in the 21st century.
2009-01-09 reunited after all these years I first heard this gorillaz self-titled album back in 2002. This is by far one of the best cd's I've ever heard- what I love most is that every single track is solid. Each can stand on its own, and together it makes for quite a pleasant listening experience. My original copy slowly dwindled down to being a scratched, well worn and certainly well loved, but ultimately unlistenable piece of junk that I sadly had to throw away. I added it to my wish list and my bestest friend in the world got me a shiny new copy for christmas. I am overjoyed to finally be reunited with one of the best albums ever produced.
Now I can finally be prepared to "rock the house" once again.
Thank you, Amazon Wish List!
