Monkey Business’s high-profile guest list. After Justin Timberlake’s contribution to the massive "Where Is the Love" breakout hit from
Elephunk, their inclusion of big names once again was a smart, respectful move on the part of the band as well as their guests. "My Style" is Timberlake’s BEP foray number two; while the song is funky pop fun, those looking to hear Justin in the forefront are likely to be disappointed, as his vocals are mixed evenly, no sweet soulful solos this time. Other guests of note are Jack Johnson, who cowrote the bling-bashing "Gone Going," Sting on "Union" (sonically inspired by the former Police-man’s "Englishman in New York"), while funk legend James Brown contributes to a scorching soul track dubbed "They Don’t Want Music." The contribution of female vocalist Fergie--who joined the band partway through their last CD--has raised up considerably on the band’s fourth disc, their second as a quartet. Sassily fronting her way through songs like "My Humps," the "Hey Mama"-esque "Dum Diddly" and the first single "Don’t Phunk With My Heart," Fergie’s melodic contributions make for a record that will likely be heard by wider audiences than ever, making this a truly accessible ‘hip-pop’ CD.

I have always liked The Black Eyed Peas but it seems that their best songs are only the ones released as a singles. The best songs are Pump It, Don't Phunk with my Heart, Don't Cry and My Humps.
I know a lot of reviews bagged My Humps as being an awful song, but i disagree. Listen to it with a great sound system and a 15 inch Subwoofer and you will see why i like it. The bass is out of this world! The same goes for the other songs mentioned earlier.
As far as the other songs go on the cd...I wouldn't cross the street to listen to them. You are better off just downloading the songs you hear that are released as singles, the rest is garbage.

This is another of those CDs that I kinda wish I had just paid the 99 cents for the songs I liked instead of getting the whole thing to tell the truth.
2009-10-22 BEP they reppin' it
I think it's popular to label BEP as a group that teens will like, thereby implying that the Peas are not sophisticated enough or they haven't attained some made-up level of respect like Jay-Z or somebody else that everyone wants to say is a genius. Will-I-Am has always told everyone what he's here to do. He's here to make your butt move, and whether you are listening to "Monkey Business" or "The E.N.D" or any Peas CD, that's what they do. Some hip hop reviewers want to take themselves so seriously. They consider themselves TRUE hip hop fans unlike the rest of us dolts. Many times I've read negative reviews of "My Humps". They obviously don't get that song, but I do, and if you pay attention, you will too. Believe me, the Peas give you what you want. They funk up the air you're breathin' and they make sure your butt is moving. However, they also drop a little knowledge on the way. I have all of the Peas CD's and I couldn't possibly be happier. Their lyrics are clever to the 10th degree, and Fergie, don't count her out as a light weight. She is a heavy hitter. Don't sleep on her or any of the Peas because of what you've heard from the so-called "true" hip hop reviewers. I'm not here to review a CD, I'm here to review the Black Eyed Peas: Each Pea is unique, each Pea is needed, each Pea makes a contribution to the whole, and my review is 5 stars all the way.
2009-08-23 Monkey Business
I remember this album when I was 18. I like it so far. This is an album that further intensifies their passion for making music together, for connecting with their audience throughout the most fundamental ways: making people have a good time. In many ways, this record is a direct descendant of its predecessor. This became an effort put forth by all members- the first the foursome co-wrote together- and the more sophisticated songwriting;the layered grooves of the record and its fulfilled spirit reflect that. This album has been certified 4x Platinum. Remember, this was 2005.
