2010-05-03 Green Day's only CD/DVD album Bullet In A Bible is Green Day's only CD/DVD album. It documents two of Green Day's biggest shows in their career, where the band played a concert over a two day period at the Milton Keynes Natural Bowl in the United Kingdom on the 18th and 19th of June in 2005.
This is one of my favorite Green Day albums. In fact, I actually owned this album before I owned American Idiot, so I heard the songs live first before hearing their studio versions.
Die-hard Green Day fans should get this album. Heck, any Green Day fan should buy this album! I strongly recommend it.
2010-04-26 Rated: Meh.... Hi,
I like Green Day. Don't get me wrong. Plus, I know this was a big tour for them. Billy Joe said so himself. He said it was the best tour in the sixteen years they've been together. The thing is. After sixteen years, I would expect better musicianship out of them. The main example of that? The pathetic "Solos" barely worthy of the name. Only the bassist & drummer tried to do one. The solos were nothing more than a few bars of filler, in the middle of songs. I appreciate that they're not musicians' musicians, but I was amazed. Green Day is a club band, a dance band. Green Day is not a polished, evolved band. One whose music has grown w/them over the years. Musically, I expected a lot more from them @this point. Sad, but true. Yeah, I know. Many here will retort that they're laughing all the way to the bank. That proves nothing. Many people are still stupid enough to buy Fords, Dodges, & (Gag) Chevies... Heck, you can even find AC/DC still "Touring" somewhere. The late Eighties/early Nineties were a long time ago in the music industry.
As for the DVD. It's the only thing that saves this package. You can see them shine in their natural element. Club bands are meant to be heard & seen LIVE. Too bad the editor chose to cut in interviews after almost EVERY freakin' song.... In all honesty, I think Green Day's better days are well behind them. I think they might want to stop before it gets worse. I wish them well.
2010-02-11 A great band giving a great show to a great audience If you've never seen Green Day live this is probably the next best thing, a video record of one of their grandest shows. They're at one of their peaks, as American Idiot had become a sensation, and playing in England - the breeding ground of the original punk movement - in front of a huge, die-hard crowd. It doesn't get much better than this. There are little interview snippets and backstage scenes interspersed between some songs, so be ready for that. But all in all really a blast of the good stuff.
